John Denver was a superstar performer who influenced millions of people by his popular-folk hits Many of them were based in Colorado. Henry John Deutschendorf Jr. is a New Mexican born musician and singer who fell in love with Colorado. Denver's anthems for his adopted state has drawn a lot of people to Colorado. G. Brown of Colorado Music Hall of Fame, the curator of this hall of fame, stated: "I don't believe there is another performer that embodies Colorado like John Denver." Denver was inducted into the Hall of Fame as its first member in 2011. Denver is a symbol of the state for all people. If you travel with me, you may meet people at opposite sides of the planet. For example someone from New Zealand. And when you say that you are originally from Colorado the response is "Oh John Denver!" Brown stated. Denver's debut Top 10 hit as a solo artist after a brief career performing in small folk bands was Take Me Home Country Roads written by Bill Danoff. Danoff had originally written the tune with Johnny Cash's music in mind, but Denver was aware from the very first time he heard the early versions that the song was going to be an instant hit. The song was performed at Washington D.C. to a massive crowd, Denver recorded it just days later.
